Wedding photographer consultations: why it’s important
There are so many vendors involved when it comes to putting together a wedding. From the planner to the venue to the florist, calligrapher, cake-baker, dress alterations… the list goes on. When doing your research to select these vendors, you’ve probably done a Google search to check out their website and reviews before contacting them to hire them. And for most of your vendors, that’s plenty of info. For your photographer however, it’s best to meet them face to face, if at all possible. So when researching photographers, make sure you find one that offers the service of a consultation before booking.
Why is it so important to do a consultation with your photographer? First of all, aside from perhaps your wedding planner, your photographer is the one vendor with whom you’ll be spending the majority of your wedding day. By meeting face to face, you can determine if their personality is one that will be agreeable to yours and your fiancé’s, as well as your family and friends on your wedding day.
Second, if a photographer is willing to take the time to meet you in person, it’s a good sign they’re dedicated to serving their clients to the best of their abilities. This means you can expect more personal service and attention to detail as your wedding day approaches.
By meeting your photographer in person, this will also give you an opportunity to take a closer look at their work as well as the products they offer. Your photographer should have plenty of sample albums for you to flip through.
During your consultation, take note on if your photographer is really listening to you and your needs, or if they’re just trying to sell you on something you don’t want. A photographer should listen to you and get to know you, so that once the wedding day comes, he or she is fully prepared to photograph your wedding.
